Booking business transport: what about insurance?

Do your employees travel frequently on business? Meeting prospective customers, representing your company at trade fairs, business travel is often essential. Whether your staff travel by train or plane, things don't always run according to plan. So here's Nemea Appart'Hotel's guide to planning ahead when booking professional transport.

Rail travel insurance

Travelling by train for business offers the advantage of being able to work during the journey, and it's often quicker than car travel for longer journeys. However, trains can also be delayed or even cancelled, which can mean missing a connection.

When booking your employees' tickets, remember to check the conditions for exchanging and/or cancelling tickets. Tickets offering the most flexible conditions are often more expensive, but that's the price of peace of mind. If you don't think the ticket conditions cover what you need, you can always add  SNCF cancellation and unforeseen circumstances insurance. This covers changing your ticket, 24-hour assistance, etc. As with all travel insurance, remember to check the details.

Plane travel insurance

Quick and sometimes cheaper than train travel, planes are also popular for business travel. A European Union regulation sets out the guarantees provided by airlines in the event of delays, cancellations, loss or damage to your hold baggage, etc.

It should be noted that some top-of-the-range bank cards offer additional insurance to travellers, such as ticket cancellation or modification fees, or trip interruption fees.

No matter how you travel, insurance will always make things more expensive. But that's the price you pay to protect your employee and ensure a smooth business trip.
