Tips and tricks for free parking in Lyon

Whether you're visiting for a short meeting, a full day or an extended stay, knowing where and how to park in Lyon is crucial. From parking zones with variable rates to free parking deals, find out all the information and tips you need to park cheaply or for free in Lyon.

Preferential rate parking zones in Lyon

Although most streets in Lyon charge rather high rates for parking, two zones, called Presto (short-term) and Tempo (medium-term), allow people with vehicles to park for less. Obviously, the parking time is limited, to one hour for 2 euros for Presto and between half an hour and 3 hours for Tempo, costing from 50 cents to 4 euros. Note that for owners of vehicles with a green Crit'Air sticker, these preferential rates are offered on a sliding scale.

Free parking spaces in Lyon

For free parking in Lyon, there are grey zones away from the city centre, which are free all day. Although parking in Lyon is generally paid, there are a few good deals such as zones near the Hénon metro and the Croix Rousse metro, and part of the Boulevard des Canuts. In Part-Dieu, near the Parc de la Tête d'Or, there are also some great parking facilities. Finally, there are free park-and-ride facilities outside Lyon, provided you continue your journey by bus or metro.
