And if you're staying at our aparthotel de Strasbourg, you'll be making the journey to Illkirch in the opposite direction!

Tram: the most direct option

The most convenient way is undoubtedly by tram, which links Illkirch to the centre of Strasbourg in around thirty minutes, with a departure every 15 minutes. Line A serves several stations in the municipality, including "Illkirch Lixenbuhl", "Colonne" and "Graffenstaden", and provides direct access to Strasbourg's central locations such as the station, the "Homme de Fer" stop, or the "Étoile Bourse" stock exchange building.

Trams run regularly, even in the evenings, making it easy to plan your journeys without having to worry about timetables. The ticket is the same for the entire CTS network and remains valid for 1 hour, with possible connections to buses or other tram lines.

By car: planning ahead for flexibility and parking

If you have a car, Strasbourg can be reached in less than 20 minutes via the Route de Lyon, the D1083, or the A35. At off-peak times the journey is smooth, but at peak times it can take considerably longer. Once in Strasbourg, it's best to think about parking ahead of time: the park-and-ride ("P+R") services at the entrance to the city are often a good alternative. The Elsau and Baggersee stations serve as easy tram connections to the centre of Strasbourg.

By bike: a green and pleasant alternative

The Strasbourg region caters particularly well to cyclists. A cycle path links Illkirch directly to Strasbourg, running alongside the River Ill and the Rhone-Rhine Canal. Allow around 30 to 40 minutes for the journey, depending on your pace. This is a popular solution when the weather is nice, particularly if you want to avoid traffic while enjoying the scenery.

Whether by public transport, bicycle, or car, getting to Strasbourg from Illkirch is quick and easy. There's no better way to take full advantage of the cultural and architectural wealth of the Alsatian capital, while enjoying a quieter place to stay.
